Similarly search engine optimization which is commonly known as SEO and Google adwords marketing are also some of the powerful tools to attract and lure more visitors and potential customers to your website or campaign.

Some folks update their status on social websites even before they brush their teeth in the morning, this opens the Pandora box for a strong social media marketing campaign by leveraging platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest where you can add attractive, social and useful information to share with other like minded people. The new company linked-in pages can also help you setup company pages with customized logo and header to build brand awareness and highlight your product, services or even conduct recruitment campaigns.

- Word of mouth / Social get-together

Nothing works better then ‘word of mouth’. Its in our nature that we are more inclined towards a product or service which is directly recommended to us by a close friend, family member or even from someone in a social gathering. Also making contacts and pitching the right words can turn a small conversation into a conversion.

This small investment pays off in the long run and your identity is there to remain associated with your company in the years to come. You can also use it for online and offline marketing and to build brand awareness. Using the logo in all of your official correspondence and email signature adds an irreplaceable trust value.

No, one can deny the usefulness of promotional gifts. Promotional items are not just limited to exhibitions or trade-shows and if utilized properly it can work a great deal as customers tends to expect freebies and giveaways specially when they’ve worked with you or ordered from you before. So small gifts like fridge magnets, pens and recycled bags can convey the right message without spending a fortune.

marketing logo- Client follow-ups / After sales relationships

Following up with clients on their user experience and product/service quality is a great way to gain valuable feedback and insight to your business. You can easily do so by making a follow-up call along with a a thank you card posted to them. It also gives customers a comfort level and they are more inclined to refer you to their friends and associates just because of a follow-up interaction.

- PR campaigns

There are many ways to spread the word. An online blog can help you achieve this goal which you can easily setup free of cost. This way you can keep your customers and potential clients updated about the latest happenings and also add valuable content and information related to your business. You can also hire the services of PR firms when launching any special product or services. However its important that the content is something which is of value to end users and this is the key for your PR article to be picked up by major blogs and newspapers.

how it works

- Monetizing Coupons

Coupons or discount tags are a great way to lure those who are in the middle of making a decision and need that final push. Watch out for special events and holidays when customer are eager to shop and watchful of those special deals. Sending coupons to existing clients and offering discounts to them for their next order is another great way of passing the benefits to customers and saving your marketing dollar.

- Sponsoring a local event or charity

If you are targeting local communities like a county or or small city then helping a local charity or funding or sponsoring an event can easily turn the tables on your side. Similarly adding a sponsored banner in an event which match your business profile or sponsoring the local rugby or baseball team can also help.

About Packaging and Exposure

Packaging is your product’s first impression and it’s a very important element in the client’s purchase decision. The way you “dress” your product and the way you create exposure can make a big difference in your sales numbers.

You may have heard about the Brazilian flip-flops Havaianas. Their unmistakable design and marketing strategy took the flip flops to a different level of appreciation, from a popular product in the 70’s, to a desired and sophisticated worldwide known footwear. Although it was a new concept back in 1962, based on a Japanese model, the sandals had no special attractions. They were plain white with a blue strap offered at a very popular price.

Soon enough imitations were popping up in the market, creating a need for visible changes in the brand concept. Havaianas became colorful and more comfortable with the sandal’s packaging following its style.

The strategy, created by some of the best Brazilian Digital Artists including Adhemas Batista and Guilherme Marconi, consisted of changing the product’s image into a modern, comfortable and well designed sandal that reached a new range of clients both in and out Brazil.

Aside from big budget campaigns starring Brazilian celebrities, Havaianas also developed a new way to expose the product. They created a wide stand where the sandals could be easily spotted, increasing exposure and, of course, sales.

Years later, the first flagship store was inaugurated at one of the most active commercial centers in São Paulo. Here the public could choose from the classic models to a variety of customization.

Your marketing starts with your product, not only with its quality, but also in the way you present it to your market. Sending your message correctly while creating recognition and differentiation is crucial. Every detail is important to create consistency with you product’s concept.

Six ways to get you started as an Entrepreneur

road

Photo: Dayene Oliveira

It is a new year and most people like to start fresh and move forward with a project they have postponed forever. If you always wanted to be an entrepreneur but never took the first step in this direction, here are six ways to get you in the mood:

1 – Get mixed with other entrepreneurs. There are meetings in many cities and towns that are essential to anyone who wants to open a business, as well to those who already have one. It is in these meetings that you meet mentors, partners and clients.

2 – Learn how to plan your business. There are two main ways to do so, one for traditional business (offline), the other for digital. If your company offers a product that already exists, start designing a business plan. If your business is virtual you’ll need a business model. Start with a simplified model, test it and get direct feedback from your clients.

3 – Create the ideal team. When you start a business, you know what you need to do: create and sell. Know which part of the process you represent and have a partner that can handle the other side. If you try to do both, you’ll swamp yourself in chaos. Find partners that complement your skills, the beginning of a business is exhausting and requires a lot of dedication.

4 – Interact with your target. This is always important, but it’s most important in the first stage, when you’re still crafting your product. Go to fairs, events, conferences, talk to people and show your prototype.

5 – Be aware of the legal stuff. Getting all the bureaucracy ready to go requires time. Be prepared for the legal process, research and plan ahead so it doesn’t get in the way.

6 – Seek inspiration. If you want to be an entrepreneur, you have to act like one. Look for information and study successful companies’ cases. Read about the subject, watch your competition, get out of your comfort zone and learn from good examples.

Work hard and believe in your project, everything else will come along.

Six ways to get you started as an Entrepreneur

What story is your brand telling?

So, you’re a business owner, you know exactly what you offer, what you can do and where you want to be, but do your customers know?

Most companies are not aware of the image they pass on to their clients because they communicate on a self-centered point of view. The secret to crafting a strong brand identity relies on telling a good story, your brand story, creating an emotional bond that will be stronger than any other marketing strategy you’ll try.

The Power of Words”, a video that went viral in 2011, shows how the same message can be more powerful when you tell a good story.

If you want to master brand storytelling, learn from who is already there. The Entrepreneur Magazine wrote an article about the secret of the 10 most trusted brands, check it out.

What story is your brand telling?

A simple way to add value to your product/service

I have worked with startups and entrepreneurs since the first years of college and I can say without a doubt that the success of a business is directly related to clear communication, a good business model, committed management and most of all, a good product/service.

Innovation in a world where things change fast is mandatory, but if your company can’t offer the newest, coolest product on the market, outstanding customer service is your next best ally.

It is known that a costumer will pay more to have a better customer service experience. That being said, how do you add customer service value to your product?

Reciprocity is the number one thing that counts in a client’s mind. A one-to-one interaction where the company deals with the clients individually, even if they all have similar issues.
There is no formula to a good customer experience, but here are three ideas that will get you started:

1. – Value Feedback

Listen to what your customers have to say. They know what they want better than you do.
Most of the biggest innovations in successful companies were ideas that came from clients. Make it easy for them to deliver feedback and make sure they know how much you value it.

2 – Thank your Customers

Research has shown that a simple thing like finding a penny on the street can brighten someone’s day. It is not about the value of the penny, it is the fact that something good happened to them.
Brighten your customer’s day with a warm thank you. Let them know you truly appreciate their business.

The Helpscout eBook shows 25 different ways to thank your customers, check it out here.
If you can customize your “thank you”, you’ll be on the right track.

3 – Be Personal

Nothing is more pleasant in human interaction than the sound of our own name. Try it on in daily conversation and see how positively people react when you acknowledge them by saying their names.

Show your customers you know them and it will deliver credibility. Your customer will feel confident that you know what they want and will trust you to do the job right.

Always remember: good customer service experiences stick in people’s minds, making your brand memorable and better than the competition. What about you? How do you treat your customers?

The Foundation of a World Changing Idea

Broadway Bridge by Nick Weinrauch

The biggest projects in Design, advertising campaigns, marketing plans or just great inventions started with a problem to be solved. Defining the problem well is critically important in the development of any world changing idea.

So, how to create a good definition?
We create definitions for every situation around us. All of those definitions can also be called “point of view” and have a big influence on how we make decisions and experience the world. Most of the time, we’re not even aware of our own point of view which is deeply rooted within us, a part of who we are. That said, the best way to activate your Imagination is to “reframe” your problem, questioning the most obvious answers.

Among the many ways to reframe a problem, one of the most efficient is to ask questions that start with “Why?”For example: if you ask me to build a bridge for you I can ask you, “Why do you need a bridge?” Your answer would likely be “to get to the other side”. Well, there are many ways to get to the other side. I can suggest to you a boat, a tunnel, a hot air balloon. But what is going to change when I ask you, “Why do you want to get to the other side?” This way I completely change our point of view, increasing substantially our range of options.

Reframing concepts or problems can be applied to any business at anywhere in the world. Here is an example extracted from the book inGenius: A Crash Course on Creativity, written by Tina Seelig, professor at Stanford University.

“[…] the directors of the Tesco food-marketing business in South Korea set a goal to increase market share substantially and needed to find a creative way to do so. They looked at their customers and realized that their lives are so busy that it is actually quite stressful to find time to go to the store. So they decided to bring their store to the shoppers.

They completely reframed the shopping experience by taking photos of the food aisles and putting up full-sized images in the subway stations. People can literally shop while they wait for the train, using their smartphones to buy items via photos of the QR codes and paying by credit card. The items are then delivered to them when they get home. This new approach to shopping boosted Tesco’s sales significantly”.

“Every problem is an opportunity to create solution,
The bigger the problem, the bigger the opportunity” – Tina Seelig.

So, bring up the discussion, “What problems are you trying to solve?”
