Character design normally adds much more flexibility in design then just the way it is represented to suggest the scope of the work. For example take the antgel example below which we had completed several months back, here the character was visualized to show as a standalone logo and also as a header and masthead for the website where it can be creatively worked to represent the essence of business by adding few modifications and enhancements to achieve the goal without changing the primary design.

In my last post we had discussed about the differences between a logo design and Illustration project. So this time i took some liberty to feature and explain more about 3D styling in illustration and Character Illustration work which we can provide so if you need a new Mascot Design for your company or a Character Design to represent your product or brand then you know where to look for
Mascot of Character Design requires some in depth knowledge of the character itself which is important to communicate before a successful project is undertaken. So the first thing we do is discuss in detail about the specs and expectation of the character and what role is it going to play in the branding efforts of the company or campaign.
Once we know the design specs, work is started with basic preliminary drafts to get a feel for the design, which is then further brainstormed and this starts the illustration logo design or character design process. First we draft the ideas on paper, for instance i will show you a character show-reel which we have designed for a pizza company which is going to become their mascot and corporate identity. The process from sketching to final design is shown below to highlight how the process will work.

As you can see from the above illustration that it involves various stages which inspires the look, gestures, body language and theme of a character while in the end the marketing pitch is placed with the company product professionally integrated into the design.

Above is another example of character which is for on online shopping comparison website for shopaholics in which the character is the main focus and represent its attachment with the identity of the website.
Illustrative Logo design is a service which we also provide along with conventional logo design services, however with illustrative logo and character design much more work is involved. The first and major part of the design process is getting information about the character and the environment and setting which is required for the design such as background and additional supporting details. After this pencil sketches are performed and upon their approval the final vector design can be completed.
However its important to know whether your project falls under the illustration work or the normal logo design work which is frequently inquired by our customers. So to make the process easy we have drawn some comparison with two different logos to highlight which type of work falls under which category. This will make it easy for you to decide which sort of design services you are looking for.
We have advertised our normal logo design rates on our website, however pricing for illustration, character or caricature is quoted based upon the requirement and normally starts from $250+ based upon the project and its scope.
Illustration Design vs Logo Design
As you can see from the above draft the limitations for a logo and where the design job falls under illustration category.
